In 2020 I launched the Snap, No Tap Podcast to provide listeners insight into American Catch Wrestling, fighting, and self-defense while touching on a wide variety of topics in a long-form discussion. This has truly been a labor of love for my cohosts and I as no matter our personal schedules we’ve consistently delivered a show each week. For this free resource, all I have asked from listeners is for their time in exchange for us sharing the knowledge I’ve spent a lifetime acquiring including teaching Catch for the past 25 years.
Later that year, we began providing additional original content via short videos on YouTube related to training, combat mindset and more. This effort, also completely self-funded, requires hours of production to share this knowledge.
If you have spent any time listening or viewing these videos, let me thank you personally.
And if you’ve enjoyed our material there is now an opportunity to do your part in joining us, so we can continue producing this quality content.
- Level 1 – Monthly Supporter ($5.00 monthly revolving payment)

Would you be willing to join one or both levels so we can continue to share this knowledge while advancing American Catch from its bygone era into the 21st Century?
We simply can’t do it without you. Your contribution will make a real, lasting impact in the legacy of Catch Wrestling and we look forward to your support.

Drills, Pain Tolerance, and Mental Conditioning: Tony gives you the skills you need to survive any street encounter whether you're on your feet or on the pavement. He starts with a series of drills designed to condition your body and burn in Catch's fundamental techniques. He then teaches you how to withstand the searing agony of such submissions as the double wrist lock and heel hook long enough to effect a counter or reversal. Finally, he talks about the mental conditioning and mind-set of a true streetfighter, and how you can develop the will to win any street confrontation.

Groundfighting: Tony shows the grappling skills you need to prevail in any encounter that ends up on the ground. He starts with a series of rapid escape and reversal techniques that include the sit-out, hip heist, and arm drag and then teaches you how to develop maximum power when striking on the ground whether you're on your back or on top. Next he teaches several vicious ground submissions designed to cripple your opponent and end the fight quickly, ranging from the top and double wrist locks to the head lock crank, neck-breaking further nelson and the leg-destroying stopper toe hold.

Striking: Tony starts by teaching the fundamentals of punching: how to properly roll a fist to minimize or eliminate hand injuries; proper body mechanics to derive maximum power; and the bread-and-butter jab, hook and uppercut. Then he focuses on close-range weapons like the elbow and knee before delving into Catch's destructive battery of kicks. Defenses against both punches and kicks are also taught, focusing on head movement, bobbing, weaving, knee blocks and much more. There's more to catch than grappling, and to be effective on the street, you need to have your striking game wired tight; this video will teach you to do that.

Hand Fighting and Takedown Defenses: Tony starts off by teaching hand fighting: the true grappler's way of both achieving an unbreakable grip and breaking the grip of your opponent, no matter how strong he is. After that, he demonstrates Catch's most effective takedown defenses, showing you how to stay on your feet in a real-life violent encounter and avoid being slammed to the pavement. He also includes a truly brutal version of the sprawl that will have your attacker wishing he'd never tried to take you down in the first place.

Takedowns and Throws: Tony first shows the high-percentage takedowns that make Catch such a formidable art. He dispels the myths surrounding the street use of single- and double-leg takedowns, teaching you how to put someone onto the pavement and keep him there without compromising your balance. From there, he goes into fireman's carries and the duck under, one of Catch Wrestling's least understood but most powerful moves. He also shows a series of throws from various positions that can cause serious injury or even death.

Fundamentals: Tony teaches the foundation of Catch Wrestling, focusing on vitals of stance and footwork that will keep you stable enough to throw a powerful punch, but mobile enough to foil a takedown attempt.

You know, I am so extremely proud of the Lost Art of Hooking series. It truly revolutionized grappling and it displayed to the world the effectiveness of American Catch Wrestling beyond a shadow of a doubt. So many people have used my techniques (and many have stolen them as well, sadly) that it has literally touched every part of the civilized world. The one thing that has always bothered me though, is that it has labelled me as a wrestler, a grappler, a submission specialist. All honorable titles, but I am and have always been, a bit more than that. I was a striker first and a street fighter in perpetuity. The LAOH only showed a small portion of what and who I am as a fighter. I was MMA (and more) before there was MMA.

With the advent of video-sharing sites such as YouTube, there are a plethora of people putting out videos on all sorts of subjects. It can become tremendously overwhelming for someone to sift through all of the technique videos that exist in the martial arts realm, let alone fitness videos and anything else related to fighting or getting in shape. The bottom line becomes not even a question of whether the videos themselves are valid, rather TMI....too much information. I see it in my line of work in training fighters constantly. Where they've been exposed to so many techniques, yet they don't understand the underlying principles or tactics of application.

By now many of you realize that bodyweight exercises can only take you only so far as strength gains goes. They're fine for endurance, but laughable when it comes to creating real world strength. I should know about strength. I hold the world record in a bodyweight exercise for a heavyweight, doing 122 pushups in 60 seconds. I also hold the unofficial world record in the strict curl by curling 250 lbs (and did 270 lbs. with SLIGHT movement) at a bodyweight of 220 lbs. This have never even been approached by anyone of my weight. Let me show you how I have developed a world-class pair of arms that know strength as well as anyone else in the world.

Re: The Most Effective Armbar Series On The Planet The new generation calls it a Kimura. The old timers called it by a simple word: wristlock. Simple word, yes, but do not let its simplicity fool you. Because underneath that facade is the most effective submission...check that, HOOK, that can be done to someone's arm. Take that to the bank.

The last thing you want on the mat, let alone on the street, is that sinking feeling that you've just ran out of juice. Nothing can be more frightening, and nothing can make you feel more utterly helpless. As someone who has spent nearly 40 years on the mat studying the art of Catch-As-Catch-Can Wrestling, I've seen it happen a thousand times. Having grown up in the toughest neighborhood of Cleveland and later working in some of the meanest and dirtiest bars this side of Hell, I can also tell you from experience that fatigue doesn't just make cowards of them all: It can make cripples of the lucky and cadavers of the rest!

I'd like to ask you a few questions before we go any further.
- Have you ever been beaten in the gym or competition by someone you absolutely knew you were better than?
- Did you feel you had the strength to handle him but for some reason you just couldn't seem to "pull the trigger"?
- Were you sweating profusely and gasping for air making excuses why you ran out of gas?

Beyond the Lucky 13....that's all that needs to be said! The Lucky 13 is considered one of the finest and most grueling workout DVD available anywhere in the world. The Circuit Breaker takes it a step further. This is circuit training at an intense level. And it picks up where The Lucky 13 left off.

It seems to me that so many people nowadays want to be well-rounded as fighters that they find they need to cut corners in order to do it. After all, there are only so many hours in the day and too few qualified instructors out there. While I applaud anyone who wants to learn, scavenging for knowledge without a proper plan to train and implement is not the most economical way of doing things. For me, it's always about efficiency, time management, and being prepared. Above all, I don't want to get caught off guard or taken out of my element. This is an important point for you to absorb.

When you're involved with something for many years, you're bound to gain a ton of knowledge and insight. That's only common sense. Now when you start hanging around and associating with other folks who have a lot of experience and you start sharing, well...you can only imagine what stuff will come out. Think about two vastly experienced athletes. One is a collegiate wrestler. The other a boxer and Catch Wrestler. Now imagine them just relaxing after a workout and deciding to just "talk shop." Well that's exactly what happened here.

Pro wrestling ALWAYS had a dubious reputation. To most knowledgeable people through the years when you mention pro wrestling, their response usually is, "FAKE!" And they would be correct. Pro wrestling has been fake since basically its inception. That doesn't mean there weren't some skilled participants. Olympic gold, silver, and bronze medalists in wrestling have been among its ranks. So have national and international champions. However that doesn't change one simple fact. The wrestling "holds" (meaning the submission, punishing holds) have been as phony as a 3 dollar bill. They were practiced and applied to be theatrical in nature. To play to the crowd. To put on a "show".

From the very first day of my training, reality fighting was all I was ever taught. There was no true submission wrestling tournaments in my day and age. The closest thing around was judo. And even today, submission grappling tournaments are very far away from being a realistic fight. I had to worry about surviving day in and day out in my neighborhood. A friendly little tap out isn't going to save me. I had to learn devastating techniques that would allow me to defend myself when my life was on the line.
Of course I learned all the traditional submission holds. However, I was taught the hooking version of these holds. That means when I applied them you did not have the time to submit. Your limb was already destroyed. But there was more to it than just mere submission holds. I was taught strikes, gouges, pokes, biting, etc. These are referred to as rips. They were designed to attack vulnerable areas along your whole body.

Have you ever asked yourself any of the following questions?
- How do I submit a man from inside his guard?
- How can I hold a man down until I decide it's time to make him scream?
- Can you choke someone to unconsciousness in seconds using your foot?
- Your student submitted me in seconds. What the heck did you teach him?
- I watch the UFC all the time. Why aren't these guys finishing their submissions?
- How come Catch submissions are tighter?

If you know anything about me, you know that I am a stickler for learning and mastering the fundamentals. I don't care what it is you're doing, you better know the basics. I discussed this somewhat when mentioning my Foundations of Footwork DVD. Basics are the most crucial element to building a superior fighting machine. There is simply no other way around that fact.

Have you ever noticed how some elite athletes look so graceful when they perform? They seem to move effortlessly. Sure, some of them are born with great prowess, but the real truth is they fully understand the fundamentals of what it is they're trying to do.
I know for a lot of people, learning fundamentals can be boring. Doing the same thing over and over and over can seem daunting and at times pointless. It's a heck of a lot more fun to be doing the fancy stuff, isn't it? But have you also noticed that a lot of these fancy Dan's tend to be flash in the pans? I can tell you this, no matter what the sport is the Hall of Famers always have one thing in common. Each and every one of them has mastered the fundamentals of their particular sport.

I've been involved in grappling for about 40 years now. And through those years I've seen many changes. Some good, some bad. For sure there's been a lot of hype about some stuff. Most of the time the truth is vastly different from the hype.

I find it amusing how some people still cling to outdated and inferior ways of thinking. I can remember when I was young how my Grandparents where reluctant to get a color TV, as black and white was all they knew. And forget about getting air conditioning. That never happened. Even now I see people who still hold on tight to their beliefs, even when shown something better or more efficient.

I've been a student of the fight game since I was a young boy. I've trained and been exposed to a myriad of different styles. Some were good, some were bad. And I've met tons of fighters and martial artists through the years. Some were good, some were bad. But I'm here to tell you when it comes to kickboxing, Terry Dow is good. He's real, real good, but more about him later.
Man, I'll just take a striker down and tap him out.
Yeah right. I started out as a striker. I still consider myself a striker. A truly good striker has great footwork and ferocious speed and power. Things aren't that simple that you'll just get an easy takedown. There is a lot more to it. And for you strikers, all is not lost against a good wrestler either. There are options for you, but if YOU go into it thinking you'll get a quick KO, you're playing with fire.Shopping Cart is Empty

Develop yourself into a high powered, smooth moving machine.
Nothing surpasses mastery of the fundamentals in any sporting or athletic situation. Now is your chance to master the foundational building blocks essential for your success.
This two volume mp4 set is designed to help even the most experienced athlete improve the most important functions needed to be a great fighter....movement and delivery.
In the first volume, you will learn the importance of proper footwork from balance to movement. It will expose the differences in fighting from a striking mindset to a grappling mindset. Movement is such a key element and one that sadly, is most often overlooked by students more concerned with learning "techniques". Developing yourself into a proper, efficient vehicle will not only enable to dictate the fight, but will frustrate the opponent and set up openings unlike you've done before.
Volume two discusses perhaps the most effective and important punch in a fighters' arsenal, the jab. So much can be done off of establishing a great jab. Crosses, hooks, takedown/throw setups and so much more. You will learn the true scientific principles of the overlooked punch. Throwing a poor or lazy jab can get you into a world of trouble. Learn to master this punch and set yourself apart from the rest.
